On arrival at Chennai airport, you will be met by our representative who will guide you to your vehicle.

Depending on the time of your arrival, proceed for a city tour of Chennai. Visit Fort St. George, completed in 1653 and St. Mary`s, the first church consecrated on Indian soil. The National Art Gallery has many excellent bronzes including the famous Chola period bronze Nataraja, the God Shiva, in the cosmic dance pose. The Government Museum (closed on Fridays) contains sculpture and architecture of the Dravidian dynasties. Drive along the Marina, an elegant promenade to the old Indian section of Mylapore. Visit San Thome Basilica - the culmination of the enduring legend of Thomas Didymus, the apostle who doubted and who is believed to have lived and preached on Mylapore`s shores.

This morning proceed by road to Tirupati.
Tirupati is the base to visit the Tirumala Venkateshwara Temple on the Tirumala Hills. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Venkateshwara, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
Later in the day proceed for a darshan at the temple.

In the morning, check out of the hotel and return to Chennai by road.

This morning, after breakfast, drive to Mahabalipuram. Enroute visit Kanchipuram, famous for its temples and silks. On arrival at Mahabalipuram, proceed to the hotel for a check in.
Later in the day visit the Shore Temple which was built in the 7th century and depicts the royal taste of the Pallava dynasty. It is a brilliant example of a structural temple and comprises three shrines, where the prominent ones are dedicated to Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. The sculpture here is particularly interesting because, instead of gods and goddesses, the sculpture shows scenes from contemporary day to day life. Also visit the Rathas and Arjunas Penance.

After an early breakfast, proceed for an excursion to Pondicherry.
Arrive and visit Auroville
Pondicherry is a unique blend of French colonial heritage, traditional culture, spiritual aura and cosmopolitan lifestyle. Auroville (open Monday Friday, 9 am 5.30 pm) is an ideal township devoted to an experiment of human unity in diversity. It is quite different to the Sri Aurobindo Ashram.
Later visit the Aurobindo Ashram
Visit some local temples and return to Mahabalipuram in the evening.

In the morning, after breakfast, continue by car for Thanjavur. Enroute visit the famous Nataraja Temple at Chidambaram. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

After breakfast, drive to Trichy or Tiruchirapalli and enjoy tour of Trichy believed to be 2500 years old. The Cholas, Pallavas, Nayaks and Marathas ruled the city in the course of history. Visit the Rock Fort Temple which is located on a massive rock on the banks of the river Kaveri. The Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple at Srirangam is one of the most revered shrines dedicated to Lord Vishnu in India. The Mariamman Temple is one of the most popular and most visited temples.
Return to Thanjavur and relax

Visit the Brihadeeswara Temple, the greatest architectural achievement of the Chola era. Other attractions are the Vijayanagar Fort, the Thanjavur Palace, Saraswati Mahal in the Palace and Schwartz Church in the Thanjavur palace garden. It was built by the Chola king Raja Serfoji in 1779 AD to show his affection to the Danish Reverend Frederick.

After breakfast, continue your temple tour by driving to Madurai. En route visit Karaikudi (Chettinad).
On arrival, transfer to hotel and relax.

Breakfast at hotel. Later in the day proceed to visit the sights in Madurai. The `Temple City` was the capital of the Pandya kingdom but it was during the reign of the Nayaks (10th to the 18th century) that the magnificent Meenakshi Temple and other buildings were constructed. Visit the Madurai Temple, believed to have 33 million sculptures. The four corner gopurams are the most striking. The Meenakshi Nayakkar mandapam hall has 110 pillars and a lamp holder with 1,008 lamps which are lit on festive occasions. Visit the Palace of Thirumalai Nayak, the most famous king of the Nayak dynasty. It has a great audience hall, a three-sided pavilion and a courtyard. Full day excursion to Rameshwaram, a city of gentle sand dunes, embellished with the delicacy of casurina trees and stark palms.
Visit the Sri Ramanathaswamy Temple. This temple situated near the sea on the eastern side of the island is renowned for its magnificent prakaras or corridors with massive sculptured pillars on either side. The longest corridor in the world is here and it is 197 metres long from East to West and is 133 metres wide from South-North. The temple has a Gopuram 38.4 metres tall.
Return to Madurai by evening.
