Mumbai: Welcome to the city that never sleeps! Pulsating, Alive, On the Move, Vibrant, Fun -- this is Mumbai or as it is still frequently referred to Bombay. The most modern city in India, it captures the spirit of the changing pace set by liberalization and modernization. Once a cluster of seven islands, Mumbai was presented to King Charles II in 1661 as part of the dowry when he married Princess Catherine de Brag Anza of Portugal.
Overnight at hotel of stay.

Mumbai
Day 2

After breakfast proceed for a full day sight seeing of Mumbai.
In the morning take a boat across the harbour and visit the Elephanta caves.
Across the Mumbai Harbour, lie the seventh-century rock-cut temples of Elephanta. Once known as Gharapuri, or the Fortress City, the Caves are now designated as a World Heritage Site and visited by hundreds of tourists both for their art, historical and scenic value. The painstakingly hewn rock cut temples are dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Portuguese renamed this island Elephanta after a large stone elephant found near the shore.
While going to Elephanta Caves you will board the boat at the Gateway of India,Mumbai`s most striking monument. It has an imposing gateway arch in the Indo-Saracenic style with Gujarati and Islamic elements such as wooden carvings. It was built to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to India in 1911.
On return from the Elephanta Caves proceed for a drive past:
Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (Victoria Terminus) :This is a magnificent building, and considered to be architecturally one of the finest stations in the world. Built by the British in 1888, it has exquisite ornamentation on its facade along with beautifully executed panels and friezes. It holds the statue of Queen Victoria on its dome.
National Gallery of Modern Art: This is the former Cowasji Jehangir Hall, of the Institute of Science. It has been renovated to serve as a four-storey exhibition hall, displaying the best of Indian contemporary art.
Overnight at hotel of stay.

Mumbai – Ahmedabad
Day 3

After breakfast transfer to domestic airport for a flight to Ahmedabad.
Arrive at Ahmedabad and transfer to hotel.
Ahmedabad was founded by Sultan Ahmed Shah on the banks of River Sabarmati in 1411 A.D. Legend has it that he decided to build the capital at Ahmedabad because he saw a rabbit attacking one of his hunter dogs. It occurred to him that if the rabbits of the region were so brave, the people must be even braver. Ahmedabad has evolved into an important economic and industrial city,
Afternoon proceed for the local sightseeing of Ahmedabad and visit the Gandhi Ashram, Jama Masjid and Siddi Sayyid Mosque
> For many years Ahmedabad was the center of Mahatma Gandhi`s non-violent struggle for India`s independence. The energy of that movement can still be felt at the Satyagraha Ashram that he established on the banks of the Sabarmati in 1917.
The magnificent Jama Masjid (Friday mosque) was built in 1423 during the reign of Ahmad Shah I.
The wide open courtyard, floored with white marble, is ringed by a columned arcade painted with giant Arabic calligraphy, and has a tank for ritual ablutions in the center. The mosque and arcades are built of beautiful yellow sandstone and carved with the intricate detail that mosques of this period are known for. The main prayer hall has over 260 columns supporting the roof, with its 15 domes, making a walk through the hall a beautiful maze of light and shadows.
Built in 1573,the Sidi Sayyid Mosque is the last of the major mosques to be built in Ahmedabad under the Mughal rule. Surrounded by busy intersections, it presents a stark contrast to speeding buses and giant advertisements.
The carved jaalis in the windows of the western wall are known worldwide and have become a symbol of the city of Ahmedabad. Depicting a tree with intertwining branches, the carvings look like fine lace filigree work, but are hewn from solid stone. Though much smaller than the Jama Masjid, and lacking the enclosed courtyard, the craftsmanship of this mosque places it on a level nearly unequaled in the world.
Return to the hotel after sightseeing.
Overnight at hotel of stay.
